been busy . . .

Well it's been a busy month. I've been back on the job hunt for awhile and it has prevented me from devoting as much time to Coastopolis as I would have liked. Nonetheless, I have had a few meetings that were very productive, and the products of which I'm hoping I'll be able to "implement" in the very near future. More than any particular concrete outcomes they were productive in the sense that they helped me further organize and focus in on how to keep the development of the site going. I had a great conversation with my old boss, Katherine McDuffie over @ the Metcalf Institute; while she's no web designer *wink, wink* we shared some really good ideas about developing a message, focusing in on a particular audience, and trying to lay more of a foundation for Coastopolis through partnerships or collaborations. . . . other than that I've come up with a number of items, "wish-lists" and such that I want to implement on the site and am busy trying to learn my way around Joomla, which is the CMS that I think I'm pretty sure I'll end up using to run the site. We'll see how it goes.

I know this is pretty unfair . . . still, it speaks volumes about where our national priorities are. I only recently started looking through Google Trends but it's a pretty interesting tool. I'm not exactly sure about the metrics behind it and I'm no statistician, but the above comparison of searches and news references (Miley Cyrus/blue vs. Sea Level Rise/red) looks a tiny bit skewed to me . . .

Happy May Day.
