Conservation
One of the main reasons we are drawn to coastlines is their natural beauty. The feeling we experience when we look out to sea is beyond words, the feeling we get when we play in the waves is extraordinary. What makes these moments exceptional is that we share them with a host of natural elements, from a coastline’s natural geology, to the thousands of local species that make each coast special. However, these elements are under pressure from a variety of threats. The more we understand about how important these natural aspects of our coasts are, the more likely we are to protect them. In the words of Baba Dioum, “In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.”
